Etsy fees

Etsy Fee Calculator

Etsy's three separate fees, added up honestly — and the effective percentage they really take.

Etsy fees = 6.5% transaction fee + 3% + $0.25 payment processing + $0.20 listing fee. Both percentage fees apply to the item price plus shipping. Sell a $35 item with $5 shipping: the transaction fee is $2.60, payment processing adds $1.45, and the listing fee $0.20 — $4.25 total on a $40 order, so you keep $35.75 and the effective rate is 10.6%, well above the 6.5% most sellers quote. Frequently asked questions

Why is my effective Etsy fee higher than 6.5%?

Because 6.5% is only the transaction fee. Etsy Payments adds 3% plus $0.25 per order, the listing fee adds $0.20, and both percentage fees apply to price plus shipping. Stacked together, a typical order loses 10–12% to Etsy — and small orders lose more, because the $0.45 of fixed fees is a bigger share of a small total.

Does Etsy charge fees on the shipping I collect?

Yes. Both the 6.5% transaction fee and the 3% payment processing fee are calculated on the full order total, including shipping and gift wrap. Charging $10 shipping instead of $5 adds about $0.95 of fees. Sellers who "make it up on shipping" are sharing that markup with Etsy — build real shipping cost into your item price instead.

What about Offsite Ads fees?

This calculator covers the fees every order pays. If a sale comes from an Offsite Ad, Etsy adds 15% (12% for shops over $10k in trailing-12-month sales) on top — and participation is mandatory above that threshold. Add 15 points to the transaction fee field to stress-test whether a product survives an Offsite Ads order profitably.

Has Etsy raised its fees before?

Yes — Etsy raised the transaction fee from 5% to 6.5% in 2022, and payment processing rates vary by country ($0.25 + 3% is the US rate). All four fee fields here are editable so the math stays correct when rates move. Verify the current schedule in Etsy's Help Center before setting prices for a new shop or a big restock.
