Why is my Mercari payout less than price minus 10%?

Because the 10% selling fee is only half the story: Mercari also charges a payment processing fee of 2.9% plus $0.50 on each completed sale. On a $30 item that is $1.37 on top of the $3.00 selling fee. The combined effective rate lands near 14–15% on typical prices, and higher on cheap items where the $0.50 looms larger.

Who pays for shipping on Mercari?

Whoever the listing says. You can offer buyer-paid shipping (price shows lower, buyer adds shipping at checkout) or seller-paid "free shipping" with the cost baked into your price. When does Mercari actually pay out the money?
